Academic Success through The Writing Center
The Writing Center
The Writing Center is an intellectually dynamic environment where writers, at any stage in the writing process, can receive feedback on their writing, whether academic, professional or creative. Visits are recommended for everyone: all writers can benefit from a conversation with a reader.
How The Writing Center Works
The Writing Center is not an editing service. We don’t edit, proofread or write papers. Instead, our consultants teach strategies and skills that will help you become a better writer. We address specific concerns and help you develop ideas and effectively convey complex information.
We can help you at every stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to final draft. You don’t need a full draft (or anything written at all!) to schedule a consultation. Consultations can be scheduled for either 30- or 50-minute blocks. We value a writer’s agency and ownership of their text, and as such you will lead and create the agenda for each session.
Consultations are available in-person or online. On the Crete campus, drop-in appointments are available every day during our hours of operation, though preference will be given to those who schedule ahead of time.
Students may upload a paper online and a consultant will respond within two business hours of submission. We’ll offer suggestions, support and guided questions for your written work. We don’t directly edit student writing but will rather help you develop strategies for better clarity through comments, feedback and questions.
We also support ÑÇÖÞporn graduate students looking for assistance for graduate level work.
